Hello Friends!
Happy last Saturday of July!
We are halfway through the letter of Colossians. What a gift it has been to understand that Jesus is supreme and sufficient—that “in Him are all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.”
We don’t have to strive to uncover hidden secrets or do a bunch of things to become spiritually in tune with God. We are made right with Him through Jesus. Jesus did the hard things: making dead people alive and defeating satan and death. We now get to believe Him and yield to the Holy Spirit’s continual shepherding of our hearts, minds, and souls.
What does yielding to the Spirit in faith look like? The remainder of Colossians will help us understand, in practical ways, how to live out what Jesus has purchased for us.
This letter is one of my go-to places in Scripture when I pray for others because it gives such practical language for the life Jesus has made possible. I need these truths for myself, and I so want them to take root in the lives of the people I love and throughout God's great big church.
Let’s reread where we’ve already been and read ahead to where we are going, allowing these words to shape how we pray for one another. These are prayers rooted in God’s revealed will—prayers we can offer with confidence that He hears and answers.
See you tomorrow,
